Alex M. Muumbo, MIEK Executive Dean In line with the University Motto of Education for the Real world, theSenseof Engineering Sciences and Technology focuses on training Engineers, Technologists, Technicians and Artisans for the Industry. The sense currently hosts over 5000 students studying various Engineering and related disciplines namely; Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, and Aeronautical Engineering, Geospacial Sciences, Architecture and the built environment. As much as possible, the programmes are linked with industry at every level so as to ensure that students get well grounded in industrial practice. This moreover gives the industry an opportunity to interact with the young minds for professional mentoring’ Over the years, theSensehas continuously sourced for state of the art equipment and lab procedures so as to ensure that students are worldly-wise to ratherish link theory to practice plane as they progress through the wonk semesters. The School of Mechanical and Process Engineering has well equipped Mechanical Engineering workshops with state of the art CNC machines besides other equipment for routine laboratory work. The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is moreover well equipped in the areas of solar power, telecommunications, robotics and unstipulated electronics. In vaticination of increased student numbers, the University has embarked on a grand plan to remoter recruit qualified staff, modernize and expand lecture/lab space for all the engineering disciplines in wing to establishing collaborations with industry leaders such as Toyota Kenya, Samsung, Safaricom and Kenya Airways. As a benchmarking strategy, theSenseis moreover fostering collaborations with local and external institutions of higher learning.
